IoT Solutions Congress Brazil launches solidarity initiative to support flood victims in Rio Grande do Sul

The event, which will bring internationally renowned speakers and present innovations in IoT and Artificial Intelligence, will have free registration in exchange for donations for those impacted in the south of the country

São Paulo, May 23, 2024 – The IoT Solutions Congress Brasil, an event promoted by iCities and scheduled for the 6th and 7th of June in São Paulo, announces a special action to contribute to those affected by the recent floods in Rio Grande do Sul. In an unprecedented initiative, the congress will offer a free ticket category for those who donate essential items, such as food, clothing, water and hygiene products, which will be donated to flood victims.

With the aim of fostering solidarity, interested parties will be able to register in the “visitor – SOS RS” category for free – an entry that normally costs R$ 750.00. To guarantee free entry, participants must donate 2kg of non-perishable food, clothes in good condition, 5 liters of water or hygiene items at the entrance to the event. All material collected will be sent to affected communities in Rio Grande do Sul, demonstrating how technology can be an ally not only in urban development, but also in mobilization for humanitarian causes.

“IoT Solutions Congress Brasil is more than a technological innovation meeting; it is a platform for actions that can positively impact society,” says Caio de Castro, managing partner of iCities.

The executive highlights the potential of integrating IoT with Artificial Intelligence and robotics in combating scenarios such as the one faced by the state of Rio Grande do Sul today. “Connectivity and AI can make all the difference in the prevention and mitigation of disasters as real-time data analysis brings predictability and, from there, can generate a series of actions ranging from communication and translation, to the action of robots and drones for rescue and mapping of affected areas”, says Caio.

To delve deeper into the topic, visitors will be able to participate in a panel in the exhibition area that will address the role of science and technology in natural disaster risk management. The session will have the participation of Agostinho Tadashi Ogura, Geologist (former researcher and former director of Innovation and Business at IPT and former director of CEMADEN), specialist in the area of Science and Technology; Sidnei Furtado, Municipal Civil Defense Coordinator of Campinas and Ambassador in Brazil for the UN Resilient Cities Program and Luciano Machado, from MMF Engenharia, who will bring the “De Olho na Encosta” project, representing the private segment.

In addition to solidarity action, the congress will bring together internationally renowned experts, including Beau Woods, Robin Bass and Dave Lafferty, who will discuss how emerging technologies, such as IoT and Artificial Intelligence, are revolutionizing several areas, from transport management to public safety. The congress will also highlight GovTech solutions, showing how advanced technologies can optimize government processes and improve the delivery of public services.

The IoT Solutions Congress Brasil has the support of Fira Barcelona and partnerships with the City of São Paulo, SP Negócios, ABINC, IPT and ABES. “We are excited to hold the first edition of this event in Brazil and we hope that this solidarity initiative inspires more actions like this in the future” concludes Castro.
